September 11, 2018 Off By Justin

Fighting game fans will get a treat next year since two beloved fighting games will make a come back next year. The ‘bouncy’ Dead or Alive and the gritty Samurai Shodown or Samurai Spirits in Japan.

Both games revealed their trailers prior to Tokyo Game Show. We’re expecting more news coming from the Tokyo Game Show in the next few weeks.

Dead or Alive 6 releases on February 2019

While Dead or Alive is known for their sexy characters, the creative team has told IGN that the characters would be less sexualized. You can tell by watching the reveal trailer that Dead of Alive 6 is going for a more serious action-packed game and focuses less on being sexy. Towards the end we see Kasumi with a new less revealing outfit further confirming the creative team’s statements.

According to their official page as well as their Twitter, Dead or Alive 6 will release worldwide on February 15, 2019 which is quite soon. If you pre-order the game on Steam, you will receive a costume for Kasumi as well as unlock the DLC playable character Nyotengu.

DoA 6 will have 2 new characters. Diego who is an American with a Mexican descent is the new male character while the other female character is still unknown as Koei Tecmo still hasn’t revealed her yet.

According to Prima Games DoA 6 will have at least 17 confirmed playable characters including the new ones while possibly getting more in the future.

Samurai Shodown Teaser Trailer looks badass

As for the gritty Samurai Shodown release trailer, this makes fans thrilled since SNK hasn’t released a Samurai Shodown game for quite some time. This would be the first game of the franchise in over 10 years. This makes us excited on what the franchise would incorporate with newer technology especially since it is powered by Unreal Engine.

The last original Samurai Shodown excluding the anthology title was Samurai Shodown: Sen back in 2008 for the Xbox 360. Samurai Shodown: Sen didn’t garner favorable reviews however.

We only have the trailer to go by as SNK hasn’t released much information on the newest installment of Samurai Shodown but it is expected to be released in 2019 as well along with Dead or Alive 6.
